René Lalique
He pioneered glass art, invented modern jewellery and transformed the perfume bottle into an object of art. René Lalique is an unforgettable designer whose legendary creations still inspire the Lalique house every day.

Once upon a time...
For René Lalique, born in 1860 in Champagne, drawing and design were essential means of expression from a young age. He owned a jeweller`s studio from an early age and attended the school of decorative arts at the same time. Within a few years his revolutionary creations became icons of the Belle Epoque. René Lalique achieved success and recognition at the World Exhibition in 1900. However, he gradually turned his back on the art of jewellery and devoted himself to the art of glass.

Deeply impressed by his talent, perfumer François Coty entrusted him with the creation of his first bottle, called "OEuvre d´art" (Work of Art). The two men thus invented modern perfumery. The so-called "Rodin of transparency" puts the bottle in relation to the fragrance for the first time. René Lalique became an indispensable partner and created bottles for Roger & Gallet, Houbigant, Molyneux, d´Orsay, Molinard and Worth. The perfume as we know it today was thus raised to the nobility.
Although the history of René Lalique is closely linked to the history of perfumery, he never had the opportunity to create his own perfume. Only his granddaughter Marie-Claude decided to launch the first Lalique perfume in 1992.
For the first time, the bottle and its contents are now created from a single source and are linked by the same vision - the pursuit of excellence and creativity.

The latest perfume creations from Lalique:
The "Noir Premier" collection is a tribute to the great events in the history of the house of Lalique, which are closely linked to the history of perfumery. The names and themes of the five extraordinary fragrances are inspired by the milestones in Lalique`s history. The creations brought to perfection by incomparable ingredients unfold unique facets of timelessly beautiful fragrance families.
The bottle represents the Roman numeral "I" and is inspired by the first black perfume bottle created by René Lalique in 1911: "Quatre Aigles". Finely decorated with four female figures, the bottle´s majestic front is a tribute to the perfume`s majestic shape. The transparent glass incisions on the flacons of the "Noir Premier" bottle are engraved with graceful wing motifs. These are inspired by the "Cyclamen" bottle created for François Coty in 1909. The elegant cap is decorated with the swallow emblem of Lalique. The name of the fragrance is emblazoned in gold letters on the narrow side of the bottle. The year of the event to which the fragrance refers can be seen on the front of the bottle.
